HAMPTON, VA. - Sophomore Jonathan Dehoux was 3-for-3 with a pair
of home runs and drove in all four runs to backup the three-hit
pitching of sophomore Aaron Penny as the Apprentice School defeated
Robert Morris-Springfield 4-2 on Tuesday night in the USCAA
National Championships.
The win puts the Builders (22-20) in the winners bracket final
on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm where they'll face Columbia Union
College. Robert Morris-Springfield (20-23) will face the
winner of Southern Maine CC and Penn State Greater Allegheny at
1:30 pm in an elimination game.
Dehoux hit his first home run to left center in the first inning
to put the Builders up 1-0. In the third, his double to
right-center scored junior J.D. Drewry putting the Builders ahead
2-0. He closed out the hitting with a two-run blast over the
left field wall giving the Builders a 4-0 lead after five innings.
Robert Morris-Springfield scored a pair of runs in the sixth on
an RBI double from Justin Anderson and an RBI single from T.J.
McCoy.
Penny threw a complete game striking out eight and allowing
three hits in seven innings for the Builders.
