The 2008 Apprentice School Football Schedule was finalized this
morning and it is a new look for the 2008 football team. Five
new opponents and one returning non-conference foe join the four
Atlantic Central Football Conference foes for the upcoming season.
"I feel like Coach Janaro and (new athletic director) Keisha
Pexton have done a great job for us getting a competitive schedule
for us," said Apprentice School Football Coach Michael Vite.
"The players will be challenged every Saturday and we are looking
forward to the challenge."
The 2008 season opens up on September 6 as the Builders host the
Malone College Pioneers of Canton, Ohio at 1 pm.

Malone College is a Christian College for the Arts, Sciences and
Professions located in Canton, Ohio. The Pioneers were 8-4
last season winning the National Christian College Athletic
Association Victory Bowl 45-17 over Geneva College (Pa.).
They are dual members with the NAIA and are ranked 25th
in the NAIA Spring Poll for the 2008 season. This is the
first-ever meeting with the Pioneers who play their home games in
Hall of Fame Stadium next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in
Canton.

Homecoming
This marks the eighth meeting with the Cavaliers who hold a 4-3
lead in the all-time series. The last meeting was at the end
of the 2001 season where UVA Wise won 45-2 in Wise County.
UVA Wise is a public, four-year residential college located in the
mountains of southwestern Virginia. The University of Virginia's
College at Wise is recognized as one of the top public liberal arts
colleges in the nation.

The first ever meeting with the Patriots club team will take
place under the lights in Fairfax. George Mason faced NCAA
Division II programs Virginia State University, Clark Atlanta
University and Tuskegee University last season.

FDU's College at Florham is in Morris County, New Jersey,
bridging the towns of Florham Park and Madison. The campus consists
of 178 acres, part of Florham, a former country estate of early
20th-century socialites Florence Vanderbilt and Hamilton Twombly.
Florham is a contraction of the first names of the couple. FDU has
owned the campus since 1958. Last season the Devils
were 2-8 with wins over William Paterson (NJ) and Juniata (Pa.)

The first ACFC contest of the season pits the Builders against
NCAA Division III Tournament participant Salisbury
University. The Sea Gulls defeated the Builders 62-14 in
Salisbury en route to a 9-2 season.

Lake Erie College is a first-year NCAA Division II program
located 30 miles from Cleveland, Ohio. This is their first
varsity season after spending the 2007 campaign as a club team.

The Builders stay on the road to visit three-time ACFC champion
Wesley College. The Wolverines are coming off a NCAA Division
III quarterfinal appearance and ended the season with an 11-2
mark. Wesley defeated the Builders 50-7 in Newport News last
season.

Trades Day
This marks the first-ever meeting with the Warriors of Babson
Park, Florida on the football field. Webber tangles with ACFC
power Wesley College the week prior to coming to Virginia for the
first of two straight weekends in the Commonwealth. Webber
International is a member of the NAIA and was 3-6 last season with
a win over Chowan 31-17.

The Builders close out their road slate with a trip to ACFC
rival Frostburg State University. Apprentice School defeated
the Bobcats 17-7 last season scoring two touchdowns in the fourth
quarter to win the game.

Oyster Bowl
Longtime U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association rivals from Buena
Vista come to Newport News to close out the regular season with the
annual Oyster Bowl game. Last season the Builders defeated
SVU 45-14 behind a school record 249 yards from Sam Arnold.
