AUBURN, MAINE - One would be interested in hearing the halftime
speech Apprentice School Head Coach Bill Tose gave on Friday night
in Auburn, Maine. After holding a 43-35 lead on the host
Central Maine Community College Mustangs, Tose's speech must have
worked wonders in the 100-59 United States Collegiate Athletic
Association victory .
The Builders hit 57.5% from the field (23-of-40) in the second
half, holding the Mustangs to 37% shooting (10-of-27) and
outscoring them 57-24 for their third win in a row.
Following a wild first half that saw the hosts hit 14-of-22 from
the floor (63.6%) and trail by eight, the Builders opened the
floodgates forcing 20 of Central Maine's 32 turnovers and
smothering the Mustangs in the 41-point victory.
Sophomore Antione Paige scored a career-high 23 points to lead
five Builders in double figures. Senior Nolan Thompson added
a season high 16 points and six steals while sophomore Jason
Arrington added 16 and five steals while junior Fred Spratley and
sophomore Eric Joe had 12 apiece.
Apprentice School (4-3) will close out its Maine swing on Sunday
afternoon with a noon matchup with University of Maine-Fort Kent in
Auburn.
