COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - The Apprentice School wrestling team
competed at Ursinus College on Saturday in the Fall Brawl
tournament and came away with three placers in the strong NCAA
Division III dominated tournament.
Senior Will Harcum finished second at 174 pounds going 3-1 on
the day with three wins by fall. Harcum, a Williamsburg, Va.
native, set a modern-era record by winning 12 matches in a row to
start the season. The record breaking match was in the
semifinals where he recorded a fall in 35 seconds over DJ Neri of
Gettysburg College. Jon Peters held the mark winning 11 in a
row to start the 2002-03 season. With those three falls, he
is now tied for sixth on the career falls list with 29. Harcum is
now 12-1 on the season.
Freshman Patrick McIntosh went 4-1 at 157 pounds to take third
place. All four of his victories were by decision, including
defeating senior Matt Perry 3-2 for third place. McIntosh, a
Sherrills Ford, NC native, is now 10-3 on the season.
Perry, a Chesapeake, Va. native, went 4-2 to finish
fourth. After falling in his opening match, Perry recorded
wins by technical fall , fall, major decision and a decision
over Matt Nobbs of Elizabethtown to advance to the third place
match. With his four wins today, Perry is now 12-2 on the
year and with 87 wins on his career he is now tied current
assistant coach Jovon Butler for seventh on the all-time list.
Next up for the Builders will be the York College Tournament on
December 5.
