NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School Department of Athletics mourns the loss of Hall of Famer Norm Snead, who passed away Monday afternoon in Naples, Florida. He was 84 years old.
Snead was inducted into the Apprentice School's first Hall of Fame Class in 2019. In addition to his illustrious NFL playing career, he served as head coach of the football program for two stints, totaling 10 seasons as the leader of the Builders. He finished his coaching career at AS with a 49-41-2 record.
Snead was a star at Warwick High School in Newport News prior to his collegiate career at Wake Forest. He then played 16 seasons in the NFL for the now named Commanders, Eagles, Vikings, Giants and 49ers, being named to four Pro Bowls.
