Builders Preparing for USCAA National Tournament

Builders Preparing for USCAA National Tournament

IN BRIEF: The Builders are once again headed to State College, Pennsylvania for the USCAA National Golf Tournament. Coming off of a 6th place finish in the 2018 tournament, the Builders are looking to improve this year and take their shot at the crown. Led by Senior Jordan Plogger and Juniors Austin Saylor and Banner Robson, the Builders are poised for another strong showing in the 2019 tournament. Apprentice hasn't won the tournament since back to back 1st place finishes in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Assistant Coach BJ Maben was a key player on those two Championship teams.

Head Coach Joey Maben had this to say on the upcoming tournament. "As a team we're improving each tournament this Fall. I'm expecting we will play well, we shot 604 last year and finished 6th, that goes to show you how tough the competition is in the USCAA. For the teams to play on a division 1 layout is very special."

Play begins Monday October 7th at 9:00 AM on the Penn State Blue Course. Saint Mary of the Woods is the reigning champion, but 21 other teams will be looking to take them down. 128 individual golfers will be competing in the 2019 tournament. Banner Robson will compete for the Builders in the Long Drive Competition.

2019 SEASON STATS: Austin Saylor is averaging a score of 79.25 on the season, with Nathan Gross (81.00) Jordan Plogger (81.13) and Banner Robson (81.25) all right behind him. The lowest round of the season came at the Tom Kinder Memorial when Jordan Plogger shot an even 72, highlighted by an Eagle. The 1st round of the Tom Kinder Memorial was also a team low of 305 on the season. The Builders will need strong rounds from all of their players to capture the 2019 USCAA National Championship.
