DANVILLE, VA. - All-Tournament selection Eric Joe scored 22
points and hauled in six rebounds as the Apprentice School fell
89-80 at Averett University on Sunday in the second day of the
Averett Tipoff.
The hosts never trailed in the contest and held as much as a
14-point advantage in the first half. The Builders cut a
12-point halftime deficit down to three at 71-68 on a Fred Spratley
free throw with 7:01 left. From there Averett scored the next
eight points to push the lead back to 11 and they were never
headed.
Jason Arrington was next in scoring for the Builders with 12,
while freshman Isaih Harrison added 11 and freshman Arbry Butler
along with Spratley chipped in 10 points apiece. At 4-1, the
men have matched the best start after five games in the last 19
years. The last time the Builders started a season 4-1 was in
1989.
Next up for the Builders will be a trip to Montgomery, WV to
face West Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon.
