• The Apprentice School football team will return home for the final three games of the season, starting with Saturday’s matchup with Army Prep.

• Saturday’s game will serve as a Pink Out to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

• In a back-and-forth affair, the Apprentice School football team fell to 2-5 on the year with a 28-21 loss at Monroe.

• The Builders outgained the Mustangs by 15 yards, including outrushing them by 73 yards, but Apprentice was just 6-of-19 on third down conversions on the day.

• Monroe was first to score as Mason Boothe found Jamel Stubbs for a 68-yard touchdown with 9:50 to play in the first. The Builders bounced back early in the second quarter as Ricardo Corpus found the endzone on the back end of a pass from Mason Tatum to tie things up. Three minutes later, Tatum rushed in from seven yards out to give the Builders their only lead of the day.

• The Mustangs answered with 4:20 to play in the first half on another long pass from Boothe, this time to Rashawn Reid for 72 yards and a tie game at intermission. Monroe took advantage of a short field to start their second half as Boothe found Stubbs for the second time of the day and a 24-yard touchdown to take a 21-14 lead.

• Tatum would answer, finding Ernest Harris after a Builder interception for 13 yards and a 21-21 ball game, but the Mustangs got the last laugh, scoring on a 5-yard pass from Boothe to Deon Metezier with 10:45 left in the game.

• The Builder quarterback went 20-for-35 for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while his counterpart from Monroe went 16-for-29 for 285 and four touchdowns.

• The United States Military Academy Preparatory School’s (USMAPS) mission is to provide focused academic, military, and physical instruction in a moral-ethical environment to prepare, motivate, and inspire Cadet Candidates in order to qualify for admission to, and graduation from, the United States Military Academy.

• The purpose of USMAPS is to prepare candidates selected by the United States Military Academy Admission’s office for the academic, physical, and military challenges of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Selected students (Cadet Candidates) are high school graduates or enlisted personnel from the Active, Reserve or National Guard force.

• The U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School, known as USMAPS, the Prep School, or West Point Prep, was formally established in 1946, but the history of “prepping” Soldiers for West Point has been done since Congress enacted legislation in 1916 authorizing Soldier appointments to West Point.  The school exists today as an avenue of opportunity to a carefully selected group of Soldiers and civilians by providing them the academic, leadership, and physical skills that will prepare them for success as Cadets at the United States Military Academy.

• Located on the grounds of the U.S. Military Academy, West Point Prep prepares Cadet Candidates for West Point with a foundation that will last them beyond admission to the Academy and well into the future as leaders of character for the Nation.  USMAPS is primarily an academic institution that accepts students and Soldiers from diverse backgrounds and challenges them to meet and exceed West Point’s rigorous admission standards.  As a military school with a career focus, USMAPS also develops the foundation of professional and physical attributes needed for growth as an officer in the U.S. Army.

• This will be the first meeting between the Vanguards and the Builders.
