NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School women's basketball team hung around with Virginia Union for most of the night but ran out of steam against the NCAA Division II opponent, falling 75-56 Tuesday.
The Builders trailed by just five points at halftime and cut the lead to one early in the third quarter, but the Panthers went on a 12-3 run midway through the third to extend their lead to double figures and then pulled away in the fourth to secure the win.
Jada Bryant had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while
Jasmine Morgan came off the bench and added 10.
Amaya Ray finished the night with 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Builders will be in action again on November 30 at Trinity Washington.
