• The Apprentice School football team erased a 21-point deficit and took the lead, but Moravian put together a perfect drive late in the fourth to escape with a 29-28 win.
• After a scoreless first quarter, the Hounds punched in the game’s opening score on a 10-yard run with 5:02 to play before halftime. After getting the ball back, Moravian found a way to score again on a 37-yard pass with just 38 seconds left until halftime to lead 14-0 at the break.
• The Greyhounds opened up the third quarter with another deep passing score before Apprentice finally got on the board on a Mason Tatum 4-yard rushing touchdown to cut the lead to 21-6 after a blocked point after.
• It was all Builders for most of the fourth quarter as Tatum hooked up with Ricardo Corpus for a 14-yard touchdown and two-point conversion that trimmed the lead to 21-14. AS tied the game up just two minutes later as Tatum found Ta’Kevion Petty for a 42-yard touchdown with 9:13 left on the clock. Apprentice wound the clock down on their next possession to 1:49 when Tatum powered his way in from three yards out to give the Builders their first lead of the game, 28-21.
• Moravian answered, though, as Jared Jenkins led a two-minute drill down the field, ending with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Bingham, followed by a two-point conversion with just 19 seconds left that gave the win to the home team. Lawrence Reed nearly eclipsed the century mark in rushing, getting 97 yards on 14 touches. Tatum threw for 189 yards as the Builders racked up 398 yards of total offense.
