• The Apprentice School football team looks to snap its two-game losing skid on Hall of Fame Day against the Georgia Warhawks.

• This game has taken the place of the previously scheduled Daytona Elite matchup for this same date. Daytona Elite canceled the game on September 16, 2023, citing lack of numbers on the team able to travel and play.

• During halftime of Saturday’s game, David Barlow, Jim Bundick, Jim Heath, George Rhodes, Bruce Shumaker and Horace Underwood will be recognized as the Apprentice Hall of Fame Induction Class of 2023. The induction ceremony was held Friday night at the Holiday Inn Omni-Newport News with the Hall of Fame weekend festivites beginning Thursday morning with a golf tournament at Cypress Creek Golf Course.

• A 14-0 first quarter gave Washington & Lee all the cushion they would need to outlast The Apprentice School football team Sunday afternoon in a 28-9 loss for the Builders.

• After both teams fumbled the ball on their opening possession, the Generals took advantage of a short field to drive just 24 yards and punch in the game’s opening touchdown on an Anthony Crawford 3-yard run with 9:19 to go in the first. Washington & Lee got the ball back after the two sides traded punts and drove for the final 3:44 of the first quarter, scoring on a pass from Stephen Murrin to Jacob Romero as the first quarter expired to take a 14-0 lead.

• The Builders went three-and-out on their next drive, giving the Generals the ball back again, and they put together a 13-play drive that chewed up nearly seven minutes of clock that ended with another touchdown to stretch the lead out further.

• Apprentice finally got on the scoreboard late in the half, capping an 11-play drive with a 25-yard field goal from Jeremiah Morgan. The Generals drove into field goal range before halftime, but the kick sailed wide right to put the score at the break at 21-3.

• The Builder defense settled down after halftime, holding the Generals scoreless for most of the frame. In turn, the offense got two more field goals on the board off the foot of Morgan, one from 43 yards and the second from 27 yards. Washington & Lee punched one more into the endzone with 2:37 to play in the game when Marcus Payne rumbled in from three yards out.

• Benny Nena led all tacklers with 11 on the day, while Syncere Hawkins and Justin DePriest had eight and seven, respectively.

•.The Georgia Warhawks are a post-graduate prepartory football program that focuses on preparing players for the next level in their journey on and off the field. We insist that our student athletes continue their educational and athletic pursuit by enrolling at Gwinnett Technical College, Lanier Technical College, or Education Solutions to further ensure our players’ success. 

• The purpose of Georgia Warhawks Prep Post Graduate Football Program is to offer the opportunity for young individuals between the ages of 17-21 the chance to play athletics while pursuing a two year college/technical degree or utilize a gap semester. Georgia Warhawks will play a regular season schedule in a PGF football league to help players gain the maximum amount of exposure for recruitment by four year colleges and universities. Our games will be played against college teams and other post graduate academies.

• Athletes will receive top notch coaching and recruiting assistance from staff members who have built relationships with college coaches for over two decades. Athletes will compete in and out-of-state against other Prep Schools, Post Graduate Schools, Jucos, & College JV teams. This program is one semester long for most athletes but we also advise students to continue with an online or technical degree two year program.

• This will be the first meeting between Apprentice and the Georgia Warhawks.
