MONACA, Pa. - The Apprentice School men's basketball team built up as much as a 23-point lead on their way to a 78-59 win over Penn State Beaver Sunday afternoon.
The Builders jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead in the first five minutes before pouring on the points, leading by a 37-14 margin at the 4:27 mark of the first half. PSU Beaver didn't go quietly, clawing back to a 12-point deficit by halftime and a 39-34 score early in the second half.
Apprentice let the Nittany Lions get no closer from that point, going on a 17-0 run late in the second half to stretch the lead back out to 23 again to comfortably win the game.
Kurij Harrell led the Builders with 18 points on the afternoon, while
Karree Smith and
Montrell Jackson each contributed 13.
Apprentice will open up their home schedule Wednesday with a game against Methodist. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
