NEWPORT NEWS - Adrion Wall scored a game high 20 points, surpassing 1,000 career points along the way as The Apprentice School men's basketball team took down Virginia Peninsula CC Saturday night, 70-58.
VPCC hit a pair of free throws in the first minute to take a 2-0 lead, but the Builders rattled off the next seven points to take the lead which they would never surrender. Wall hit a layup at the 14:11 mark to score his ninth point of the night, which gave him the 1,000 career points milestone.
The Builders led by as many as 13 early in the second half, but the Gators hung around to keep things close. VPCC never got closer than four points, however, as Apprentice kept answering the Gator pushes.
Donovan Means had 17 points on the night, while
Jayden Eason finished with 14.
Karree Smith came off the bench and added 11.
The Builders will next be in action at the NSAC North-South Christmas Classic next week in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
