VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Apprentice School women's basketball team defeated Virginia Wesleyan Thursday night inside TowneBank Arena, 46-39.
After trading baskets early, the Builders used a 9-0 run to take the lead early in the second quarter, 16-9. The Marlins pulled the game back to within one, but Apprentice answered every attempt at a run from VWU on the way to the win.
Amaya Ray led all scorers with 14 points, while
Raeonna Stratton added 11 off the bench.
Jada Bryant was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 18 rebounds.
The Builders are back on the floor Saturday against Trinity Washington at noon.
