HAMPTON - The Apprentice School baseball team made quick work of Virginia Peninsula CC Friday in a doubleheader sweep at War Memorial Stadium, winning 12-2 in five innings before a 7-0 win in the second game of the day.
In game one, the Builders jumped on the board in the second, plating five runs in the frame.
Caleb Russell started the scoring with a single that scored two, followed by a
Matt Phoebus RBI groundout and a
Camden Weston RBI double that scored the final runs of the inning. The Gators answered with two in the third, but Apprentice finished off the game with seven runs in the fifth.
Riggs Ellis got the scoring started in the final frame with a RBI single that was followed by a
Nolan Edwards two RBI double, a
Kyle Whitlock RBI single and three bases loaded walks that finished off the game.
Logan Earley (2-1) pitched the full game, fanning three on the outing.
In game two, Ellis got things going in the first inning on a RBI single that put the Builders up, 1-0, a lead that would not be overcome. Apprentice added a run in the third on a RBI groundout from Weston, and five more in the fifth. Weston added another RBI on a double before Ellis and Edwards followed with back-to-back RBI singles. The final Builder run came on a Gator error.

Jaeden Anderson pitched a combined no-hitter in the contest.
Apprentice will next be in action in Myrtle Beach next weekend for six games.
