FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Apprentice School men's basketball team jumped out to a big lead by halftime and kept their distance in an 88-77 win over Methodist Saturday afternoon.
The Builders opened the game on a 16-6 run in the first six minutes to take control of the game. The lead ballooned to 13 over the next eight minutes before Methodist trimmed the lead to seven, but Apprentice pushed it back out to a 42-27 lead before leading by 12 at intermission.
Methodist came out of halftime aggressive, cutting the lead to two with 11:26 to go, but the Builders hit back-to-back threes to push it back out to eight. The lead was cut down to three points with 1:22 to play, but again AS answered by scoring the final eight points of the night.
Shamon Rosser led all scorers with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Devon Brown had 15, while
Wayne Hedgepeth was one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points.
The Builders open up the home schedule on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. matchup with Central International.
