NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School men's basketball team opened up the home slate in a big way, routing Central International, 113-58.
The Cardinals came out fighting, taking an 8-7 lead just five minutes into the contest, but the Builders answered with a 20-4 run over the next five minutes to seize control of the game. The lead stretched out to 30 by halftime, 56-26.
Apprentice continued to push the tempo, gradually increasing the lead throughout the second half to its largest of the evening at the final margin of 55.
Six Builders finished in double figures with
Shamon Rosser and
Devon Brown each finishing with 23 points and a double-double. Rosser pulled down 10 boards, while Brown had 15 rebounds.
Jahlil Hope put up 16 points,
Monte Rudolph had 13 and
Wayne Hedgepeth and
Joel Maxey each added 10.
The Builders will next take to the court Saturday at Averett.
