Women's Basketball Comes From Behind to Down Berkeley

NEWPORT NEWS - Trailing nearly the entirety of the first three quarters, The Apprentice School women's basketball team exploded in the fourth quarter to take down Berkeley, 68-56, as part of the Great Ships Classic.

After a 10-10 first quarter, Berkeley started to see their offense kick into high gear in the second quarter, shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor in the period to take a five point lead into the break. The Builders clawed back a little in the third quarter, trailing by one with 10 minutes to go before hitting 11-of-20 shots in the fourth quarter and forcing five Knight turnovers in the fourth to earn the win.

Amariona Collins-Epps finished with a career high 16 points off the bench, hitting 7-of-13 from the floor. Ronnice Berry continued her streak of double digit performance, extending that streak to seven games with a 19-point outing to lead the Builders. Cornasia Lamberson also added 11.

The Builders open NSAC play next weekend when they travel to South Carolina Central Christian on Saturday.
