NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School men's basketball team shattered multiple offensive records in a 127-48 win over Central International Thursday night.
The Builders scored the most points in program history, besting a 2009 performance against Ohio State - Marion where Apprentice tallied 121 points. They also hit 55 field goals, three more than the game against Marion. The 61.1 field goal percentage was seventh best all-time and the 31 assists were third most in program history for a single game.
Apprentice and CIC went back and forth throughout the first three minutes, but the Builders stormed away, using a 12-0 run to push their lead to 15 before holding the Cardinals scoreless for 10:30 of game time to go on a 31-0 run and lead by 52 at intermission. The lead ballooned to nearly 80 points before it was all said and done.
Davion Riddick led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor.
Jabari Brackett added 19, while
Jahlil Hope and
Adrion Wall each finished with 15.
Karree Smith put up 12 points as well.
The Builders will next travel to MACU to take on the eighth-ranked Mustangs on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
