LOUISBURG, N.C. - The Apprentice School's Chris Ivey and Emmanuel Patterson have been named New South Athletic Conference (NSAC) Golfer of the Week and Football Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the conference announced for the week ending Oct. 18.
Ivey, a senior from Newport News, Va., earned All-American honors with an eighth-place finish at the USCAA Golf National Championship. After a tough opening round that left him 20th in a field of 95, he rebounded with a second-round 76 for a two-round total of 155.
Patterson, a senior from Stafford, Va., led the Builders' defense in their 10-7 win over NCAA Division III opponent Keystone College. He finished with eight tackles (six solo, two assisted), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup. His fumble recovery in the final minutes gave the Builders strong field position and set up the game-winning field goal with three minutes remaining.
