DUBOIS, Pa. - The No. 2 Apprentice School baseball team opened up the USCAA Small College World Series with a 5-1 win over Central Maine CC Monday afternoon.
The Builders opened things up aggressively in the first inning. After getting runners on and around by the stolen base,
Seth Harrison scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. Apprentice loaded up the bases, setting up
Jett Winslow to hit a single to left, scoring two to push the game to 3-0.
AS added another in the second inning on a
Jaeden Anderson RBI double that plated
Isaac McCallister. The two offenses went quiet until the sixth when the Mustangs singled to score a single run, but the Builders got it back in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Anderson.
Nate Yeary went 2-for-4 to lead the way at the plate.
Nick Redman improved to 10-1 on the season with a six-inning outing, fanning seven.
The Builders will continue on in the winner's bracket as they will take on Penn State Mont Alto tomorrow night at 7 p.m. AS swept the Lions in the regular season in a four-game series on the first weekend in March.
