Biography

2019-20: ALL-AMERICAN.  VaSID Second Team All-State.  Entered the NCWA National Championships as the defending champion and #1 seed.  Advanced to semi-finals with a 18-3 tech fall before Apprentice withdrew from the tournament due to COVID-19 concerns.  Dominated eventual champion three times on the season. Was undefeated against NCWA opposition at 12-0. 36-6 season record including 22 pins.  Was not pinned all season. MAC Champ. Builder Invite Outstanding Wrestler. USCAA Champ.  

2018-19: NATIONAL CHAMPION. Entered National Tournament as #3 seed, avenging only NCWA loss of the season by pinning Brendan Hazelton of Grand Valley with 8 seconds remaining in the finals. Recorded three pins and a major decision on his way to the finals. 40-10 season record including 22 pins. Star City Invitational Runner-Up. Waynesburg Invitational Champion. Builder Invitational Champion. USCAA Champion. MAC Champion. VaSID First Team All-State. USCAA Wrestler of the Week.

2017-18: ALL-AMERICAN...Entering the National Championship as the #14 seed, Johnson upset the #3 seed and recorded 4 pins and a tech fall, on his way to a 5th place finish...His only losses were to the defending national champion from UCF and the eventual runner-up from Toledo...Builder Invitational Champion...Finished 3rd at the Ursinus Fall Brawl...Missed two months of the season due to illness...21-10 record for the season, with all but 2 wins with bonus points, including 15 pins

High School: Conference Champion...Regional Champion...2-time State Champion
