Russ Pierce returns to his alma mater as Defensive Line Coach and Internal Recruiter at The Apprentice School, bringing with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience.
Pierce began his collegiate career at The Apprentice School, competing for the Builders from 2018 through the 2022 season and contributing on both the offensive and defensive lines. His playing career culminated in a historic 2022 campaign, as the Builders posted a 9-1 record — the most successful season in program history — and captured the Neptune Bowl Championship.
Following his playing career, Pierce transitioned into coaching, joining the staff at Armstrong High School in Richmond, Virginia, in 2024 as Offensive Line Coach. That season, he helped guide the Wildcats to a 10-2 record and was selected to coach the offensive line for the North Team in the Big River Rivalry, an all-star showcase featuring the top football talent from the Richmond area. Pierce returned to Armstrong for the 2025 season, helping lead the Wildcats to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the regional finals.
Now back at The Apprentice School, Pierce is eager to build on that foundation at the collegiate level. He looks forward to developing student-athletes, contributing to the continued success of the Builders' football program, and furthering his career in collegiate coaching.
