NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School men's basketball team finished off the weekend with a 92-62 win over Carlow Sunday afternoon.
The Builders and Celtics traded leads early before the home team used a 19-2 run after trailing by a basket to take a 28-13 lead midway through the first half. Leading 43-21 at the break, Apprentice stretched their lead out to as many as 38 points with eight minutes to go to coast to the win.
Avin Hawkins finished with a game high 24 points off the bench.
Donovan Means had 13,
Angel Pacheco-Ortiz added 12 and
Adrion Wall contributed 11 to the win.
Kelby Saunders, Jr. finished with 14 rebounds.
The Builders will finish off a three-game home stand on Tuesday when they take on rival Virginia Peninsula Community College at 7 p.m. The game will serve as a Toy Drive benefitting the GiveBack Foundation.
