NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School men's basketball team put up over 50 points in each half in a resounding 105-56 win over Central Penn to open the Great Ships Classic Saturday afternoon.
Leading 10-9 just over four minutes into the game, the Builders rattled off a 10-1 run to take over the game. Apprentice went on another big run late in the half to extend their lead to 28 before pushing the lead out to as many as 49 with a final 5-0 push at the end of the game.
Every Builder that saw action got in the scoring column, led by
Karree Smith's 15 points.
Avin Hawkins put up 14, while
Kurij Harrell added 13.
Adrion Wall and
Montrell Jackson had 11 and 10, respectively.
The Builders will finish up the Great Ships Classic tomorrow in their first New South Athletic Conference game of the season as they battle Central International at 6 p.m. CIC fell to Mid-Atlantic Christian in the other men's game Saturday by a 93-83 final.
