• The Apprentice School football team bounced back on the road as they grinded out a 37-23 win over Buffalo State. The Builders tallied up 396 yards of offense, including 269 through the air as Mason Tatum finished the day going 20-for-32 with two scores.
• The Bengals were the first to score after Apprentice fumbled the ball on their opening offensive play, scampering in from 27 yards out to take the early 7-0 lead. The Builders responded on the ensuing drive, going 85 yards on eight plays to tie the game up on a Curtis Green 1-yard push. The Builders took the lead right before the end of the first quarter on a Lawrence Reed 3-yard run that resulted in a touchdown.
• After a Bengal pick-six tied the game up, the Builders responded right before the halftime whistle with a Tatum rushing touchdown from a yard out. Apprentice extended its lead in the third as Ta’Kevion Petty caught a pass down the sidelines and tiptoed his way in for six more, putting the Builders up, 27-14. After Jeremiah Morgan pushed the lead to 16 on a 25-yard chip shot, the Bengals responded with a quick nine play drive that resulted in an 11-yard touchdown as the third quarter expired to cut the lead to 30-20.
• After a BSU 30-yard field goal with 12:02 left in the fourth, Ricardo Corpus iced the game with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Tatum to get to the final score. Tatum finished as the leading rusher on the day with 59 yards on the ground, while Petty’s 87 yards receiving led six Builders in catching. Defensively, the Builders forced three turnovers, all fumbles, with Jasiah Beacham and Chase Gayness leading the way with seven tackles each.
