CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Apprentice School wrestling team went 4-2 at the NCWA National Duals to finish in third place this weekend.
The Builders started off the tournament Friday on a 3-0 start, defeating Central Florida, 43-17, Washington State, 45-18, and Colorado State, 47-18. In the match against UCF, the Builders accumulated four pins and two technical falls before getting four more pins against Washington State. Apprentice got four more against Colorado State to go with three wins by forfeit in the final match of the day.
Saturday saw Apprentice match up against top seed Bellarmine and third seed Liberty on either side of a match with Dubuque. The Builders got off to a strong start against Liberty, but the Flames turned it on in the latter matches to claim the win, 37-18. After the Builders defeated Dubuque, 46-14, the Knights of Bellarmine clinched the national duals championship with a 49-6 win over Apprentice.
The Builders will next be in action next weekend at the Virginia Duals at the Hampton Coliseum.
