WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Apprentice School football team fell Saturday afternoon at Army Prep, 57-6.
Everything went Army Prep's way from the start as on the first play from scrimmage, the Black Knights got a safety to go up, 2-0. Both teams settled in defensively as the score remained 2-0 until Army Prep capped an 11-play drive with a 5-yard run to go up, 9-0.
On the ensuing drive for the Builders, Apprentice went 3-and-out and the Black Knights blocked the punt in the endzone for another touchdown. After another 3-and-out, Army Prep got the ball back and immediately scored on a 28-yard run to go up 23-0.
The Black Knights weren't done in the first half as they mastered a two-minute drill, hitting a 60-yard pass for a score with just seconds remaining in the half to get a 30-0 lead into intermission.
Army Prep went on to score again on their second drive of the third quarter on a 13-yard rush and then again on a 22-yard rush to start the fourth quarter, taking a 44-0 lead. On the ensuing drive for Apprentice, the Black Knights jumped a route and got a pick-six to take the lead out to 51-0.
The Builders finally got on the board in the fourth quarter on an 8-play drive, scoring on a run from
Logan Coleman on the read option to get a 51-6 score line before Army Prep added one more touchdown to get to the final score.
Apprentice only got 118 yards of offense on the day with Coleman throwing for 48 yards and rushing for seven.
The Builders will look to bounce back next week at Hocking with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
