BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Apprentice School men's wrestling team was in action Sunday at the King Open with two Builders placing in the top five in their respective weight classes.
At 141,
Bruno Alves made his way to third place. Alves started the tournament with a win by fall over King's Gavin Qualls before a fall against Logan Arnold of Emory & Henry in the second round. He followed that up with a major decision win over Chase Creque, 15-6, before falling in the semifinals by major decision. Alves won the bronze by medical forfeit.
At 285,
Caleb Hartung wrestled six matches on his way to fifth place. He started the tournament with a pair of major decision shutouts: a 14-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan's Gavyn Uirbes before a 9-0 win over Brodey Huskey. After falling in the quarterfinals and earning a spot in the consolation semfinals by medical forfeit, Hartung had his way with Newberry's Chance Jackson, winning by fall at 3:27. In the fifth place match, he defeated West Liberty's Parker Bentley by a 5-3 decision.
