SHREVEPORT, La. - The 2026 season for The Apprentice School men's and women's wrestling teams came to a close Saturday night at the NCWA National Championships. The men garnered a third place finish, while the women finished eighth in the nation.

In total, the Builders had 10 All-Americans and finished third in the Collegiate Cup, totaling the men's and women's team scores.

MEN
The men had six total All-Americans, led by David McElravy, Jr. The senior ended his career by winning the national title at 235 pounds with a perfect 15-0 record on the season. He is the first wrestler in program history to be undefeated in an entire season, while he also is the first four-time All-American in program history at four different weight classes, garnering All-American status at 174, 184, 197 and 235 pounds over his career.

As the No. 1 seed in the bracket, McElravy started with a fall in his opening match before winning a 9-4 decision in the round of 16. After a 6-5 thriller in the quarterfinals, McElravy found himself in a dogfight against Virginia Tech's Jack Eckerson in the semis. After a scoreless first period, McElravy escaped right at the whistle in the second period and then fought off the push from his opponent to secure himself in the finals. The senior made it look easy in the finals, winning by 12-1 major decision to secure the title.

Lucas Vannostrand finished as runner-up at 125 pounds. Vannostrand put up multiple bonus point wins on his road to the finals, where he ran into the top seed in Ezekiel Keel from Ferrum. Keel used two third period takedowns and then held off a final push from Vannostrand over the final 10 seconds to hold off the Builder from the top spot on the podium. Vannostrand is now a two-time All-American.

Another two-time All-American is David Norris, who finished in third place at 149 pounds. After dropping in the semis to the eventual national champion from Menlo's NCAA team, Norris grinded out a 2-1 decision in the third place match over David Arroyo from Menlo's NCWA team.

Michael Phoutasen (141) and Jalen Terry-Winston (235) each took fifth place to earn their first All-American honors, while Owen Cherry finished eighth at 165 to get his first All-American accolade as well.

WOMEN
The women's finish in eighth place as a team is the highest in the young program's history with all four women who qualified earning All-American status. This marks the first time in program history multiple women have earned the honor in a single season.

Janyla Anderson earned runner-up status at 117 pounds. After bonus point wins got her to the semifinals, Anderson defeated the defending national champion from UNLV, 18-3, in the semis to earn a spot in the finals. She got the opening takedown of the championship bout, but ultimately fell, 14-5, to get the silver.

Skylar Schaefer also earned runner-up, marking the second straight year she has made the podium as the silver medalist. Schaefer won her first three matches by fall before a major decision of 13-1 got her a spot in the finals, where she lost in a 12-9 thriller.

Jordyn Anderson was seeded second in the 131 bracket and was upset in the quarterfinals, but she bounced back, winning three matches in wrestlebacks to earn a spot in the third place match, defeating the same opponent that beat her in the quarterfinals by fall to claim bronze.

Kaylee Campbell (110) finished in eighth place to earn her first accolade of All-American.
