MONACA, Pa. - The Apprentice School women's basketball team dropped the first game of the PSU Beaver Tip-Off Classic to the host Nittany Lions, 88-54.
Beaver jumped out to a massive 27-11 advantage after the first quarter, but the Builders settled in, keeping the margin under 20 for the remainder of the first half. The hosts came out of halftime and again had a big advantage, scoring nearly 30 points in the period to push the lead further out.
Beaver had 46 points off Builder turnovers on the day and scored 56 points in the paint, most of which came off the turnovers.
Dajanelle Linton-Robinson led the way for Apprentice with her second double-double of the season, tallying 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Nyla Jackson also finished with 16 points, hitting 3-of-4 three pointers.
The tournament continues tomorrow as the Builders play PSU DuBois at 1 p.m.
