YORK, Pa. - The Apprentice School men's wrestling team wrapped up competition at the New Standard Invitational, hosted by York College, this weekend. In a tough weekend of competition,
Landon Kissell placed fifth at 165 to lead the way for the Builders.
After losing in his opening round match to Ithaca's Konrad Parker, Kissell worked his way to the consolation semifinals with back-to-back-to-back falls, all coming in the first period. In the consolation semifinals, he matched up again with Parker and lost a major decision before winning the fifth place match.
Other notable results included
David Norris going 3-2 at 157. Norris started his tournament with a win by fall over Ursinus's Derek Giordano. After a setback in the next round, Norris won two matches in the consolation bracket before falling by major decision in his third consolation match.
Dustin Uribes and Jason McKee each went 2-2 in the event. Uribes, at 285, fell in a tight 12-10 decision in his first match before bouncing back with two wins by fall. McKee also lost his first match before winning a pair of consolation matches, including a win by fall at 5:46.
The men will be back in action at the Retriever and Cougar Duals next weekend.
