HAMPTON - After Southern Virginia jumped on the board early, The Apprentice School baseball team stormed back to take down the Knights Tuesday afternoon, 13-4.
The Knights jumped on the board in the top of the first, plating three runs while being helped by two Builder errors, but Apprentice battled back immediately, scoring four runs off a
Nolan Edwards single, a
Caleb Russell single and a
Matt Phoebus RBI groundout.
The Builders added two more runs in the second to take a 6-3 lead.
Jeremy Harmon hit a sacrifice fly before Edwards brought home another run on an infield single. Harmon and Edwards brought home two more in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-3.
Jett Winslow kept the run going with a RBI single in the seventh.
SVU responded by pushing a run across in the eighth on a RBI groundout, but the Builders got the last laugh, scoring four in the bottom of the inning on a
Brayden Heath sacrifice fly and a
Matt Phoebus three-run bomb to end the scoring.
Nick Redman (7-0) got the win, throwing three innings of relief and allowing just two hits. Edwards finished 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI.
The Builders will jump back into NSAC play Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Lighthouse Christian.
