RALEIGH, N.C. - The Apprentice School women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon on the road at William Peace, 75-61.
The Pacers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 3:30 and extended the lead to 13-2 at the midway point of the first quarter. The Builders responded with a 9-4 run to cut the lead to six by the end of the period.
Apprentice kept the momentum going at the start of the second quarter, tying the game up at 21-21 with 6:06 to play in the first half and taking a lead a couple minutes later on a jumper by
Ronnice Berry. The game went back and fourth until the Pacers finished the half on a 10-3 run to lead by six again at intermission.
From there, William Peach outscored Apprentice by 10 in the third quarter, pulling away to earn their second win of the season.
Berry led the Builders with 20 points, while
Shilah-Rayn Lord added 10. Four Pacers finished in double figures as WPU had 27 points off Builder turnovers and 48 points in the paint.
The Builders have a week off before their next game as they head across the water to take on Tidewater CC on Saturday, November 22. Tip time is noon.
