No. 3 Baseball Run Rules No. 6 Florida National, 11-1, in Opening Round of USCAA SCWS

DUBOIS, Pa. - The No. 3 Apprentice School baseball team kicked off their quest for a national title with an 11-1 win over No. 6 Florida National in the opening round of the USCAA Small College World Series Monday.

The Builders started things quickly with a Jeremy Harmon RBI single in the first inning. Nate Yeary doubled the Apprentice lead in the second with a RBI groundout to push the lead to 2-0.

After the Conquistadors scratched their only run across in the third, the offense exploded in the fourth. Landon Turner doubled down the left field line to start the scoring, setting up Matt Phoebus to keep his bat hot with a RBI single to push the lead to three.

Cam Weston kept it going with a RBI double before Jett Winslow pushed two across to make it a 7-1 lead. Hunter Johnson and Caleb Russell each had RBI singles before Harmon got the game winning walk off double in the fifth to finish the game.

Isaac McCallister (7-4) got the complete game win, striking out four along the way. Weston, Winslow and Harmon were each 3-for-4 at the plate.

The Builders will play in the winner's bracket tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. against Penn State DuBois.
