Builders Sweep Penn State Mont Alto

GAME 1

IN BRIEF: The Builders took Game 1 of the doubleheader with a 5 to 2 victory over Penn State Mont Alto. The Builders struck first and never looked back. In the 1st inning the Builders scored 4 runs to take a 4 to 0 lead. Maxwell Burcham hit a single to right field that scored Gevin Nixon. Cody Hendrickson kept the line moving in the 1st with a single through the left side that gave the Builders a 2 to 0 lead. The Builders weren't done yet, Dalton Dye singled to center and Thomas Packert and Cody Hendrickson both scored on the play. The Lions would respond in the 2nd with two runs of their own, but these are the only two runs that Luke Schanback would surrender on the day. Schanback tossed 6 innings for the Builders giving up 2 runs (unearned) and striking out 7 batters. The Builders added another run in the 3rd when Gevin Nixon walked with the bases loaded. Tyler Winegrad came out of the bullpen in the 7th to record the final three outs and his second save of the season.

GAME 2

IN BRIEF: The Builders found themselves in an early hole after a few errors cost them two runs. Penn State Mont Alto took a 2 to 0 lead after the first inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Dalton Dye led off the inning with a double to left. Fritzinger would walk and Dye would come around to score on an RBI single from James Williams. After three, the Builders trailed 2 to 1. The Lions added another run in the 4th to take a 4 to 1 lead. The Builders responded in the 4th on an RBI double from Brian Fritzinger, cutting the lead to 3 to 2. In the 5th the Builders finally broke through and took a 5 to 3 lead. A double from Cody Hendrickson tied the game at 3 a piece. Maxwell Burcham scored on a fielders choice and Cody Hendrickson scored on a double steal to give the Builders a 5 to 3 lead. Andrew Castine got the start for the Builders, and Clay O'Brien picked up the win in relief. Thomas Packert earned his third save of the season.
