Apprentice drops first game in Small College World Series to Miami-Hamilton

Box Score

DuBois, PA – The #5 seed Apprentice Baseball team opened up the USCAA Small College World Series with a late night game against #4 seed Miami-Hamilton, out of Ohio.  Both teams were looking to get the advantage by staying in the winner's bracket as their quest for a National Championship began.

The game started with the two teams combining for four homeruns, as Thomas Packert and Matt Phoebus helped the Builders enter the bottom of the third inning tied, 2-2.  However, the Harriers bats came to life in the inning to take a five run advantage, 7-2.  The Builders had an opportunity in the top of the fourth but were unable to push any runs across the plate.  Andrew Castine shut down Miami-Hamilton to close out the inning.  Unfortunately, the Harriers would increase their lead to 11-2 and then ultimately close out the game in six innings, 12-2.

Apprentice will be back in action tomorrow as they face fellow New South Athletic Conference member Mid-Athletic Christian in an elimination game.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:30pm.
