Baseball Walks Off St. Vincent For Second Straight Day

Box Score

HAMPTON - After giving up a pair of runs in the first, the Apprentice School baseball team fought back from behind for a third straight game, walking off St. Vincent Saturday, 3-2.

The Bearcats pushed across their two runs in the first frame, but after that, Logan Earley settled in, throwing six innings and fanning 10 SVC batters on the day.

The Builders finally broke through in the fifth inning as Nate Yeary hit a single to center that plated Nolan Edwards and cut the lead in half. Apprentice would then tie the game in the eighth as Hunter Johnson put a damper on an excellent outing by Bearcat pitcher Casey Jones with a double to right center that nearly sailed out of the park on his final pitch of the day, tying the game at 2-2.

After pitching a 1-2-3 ninth, the Builders went right to work in the bottom of the inning, finishing the game with a Camden Weston RBI single to earn the series win and give Apprentice the chance to sweep tomorrow afternoon.

Bryce Post (4-0) was credited the win in relief, tossing three shutout innings, giving up no hits or base runners through those three frames.

The Builders and Bearcats will finish the series tomorrow at War Memorial Stadium at 12 p.m.
