NEWPORT NEWS - The Apprentice School football team has announced the slate of contests for the 2024 season Wednesday afternoon.
The Builders will face six of their 2023 opponents this upcoming season, including rematches against Washington & Lee, Army Prep, Monroe and Thaddeus Stevens.
The season kicks off September 7 with a home game against Southern Virginia, marking the first time the two teams have played since 2019. The Builders will look to snap a six-game losing streak to the Knights in the opening game.
After a trip to Washington & Lee September 14, Apprentice will play back-to-back home games the next two weeks, starting with a matchup with Thaddeus Stevens on September 21 before the homecoming game September 28 against Louisburg.
October starts with a road trip to Alfred State on October 5, the first time the two institutions have faced off since 2016, when the Builders won their third straight in the series. October 12 will see Apprentice back at home for Hall of Fame Day against Maine Maritime.
On October 26, the Builders will hit the road for a matchup with Army Prep before returning home for November 2's kickoff against Georgia Warhawks. Apprentice will then head to Hocking on November 9 before the final regular season home game on November 16 against Monroe.
The Builders finished the 2023 season with a 4-6 record.
