Men's Wrestling Captures Fourth at Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Apprentice School men's wrestling team had two individual champions at the Shenandoah Invitational Sunday, claiming fourth place as a team in the event.

The Builders finished with 123 points, one point ahead of St. Vincent. Alvernia ran away with the team title, finishing with 291.5 points, over 150 points ahead of the host school. Penn Tech finished in third.

Lucas Vannostrand claimed the top spot in the 125 pound division, starting his tournament with a 17-0 tech fall before two wins via fall, defeating Alvernia's Rocco Monteferrante in three minutes in the championship match.

Michael Phoutasen continued his hot start to his collegiate career, winning the 141 pound division in his second straight event. The freshman had three wins via tech fall, including a 17-2 win over Shenandoah's Sean Rinebolt in the championship bout.

Two Builders claimed fourth place finishes with Jack Landauer at 157 pounds and Jalen Terry Winston at 285. Both wrestlers made the semifinal round before falling to the third place match. David Norris went 5-2 on the day at 157 pounds to finish in sixth place, while Landon Yoder went 3-3 and finished eighth at 149 pounds.

The men will be back in action at the Lucha Open, hosted by Life University, on November 22.
