NEWPORT NEWS - Leading up to the Hall of Fame Weekend and Induction Ceremony in October, The Apprentice School Department of Athletics will highlight each of the six inductees of the upcoming class. Today, we put the spotlight on former basketball and baseball player Carroll Burch.

Burch was a two-sport athlete during his time at The Apprentice School, playing basketball and baseball from 1968-71. The four-year letter winner was a Gold Athletic Award winner for basketball and was named Athlete of the Year in 1971 at the conclusion of his athletic career. After graduating from The Apprentice School, Burch went on to continue his career, retiring from NNS after a lengthy career as a Senior Planner. Burch passed away in 2018.

Tickets for the 2025 Hall of Fame Weekend are on sale now. Fans can purchase a foursome for the Third Annual Hall of Fame Golf Tournament on the morning of October 2 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Virginia, and/or tickets for the Induction Ceremony to be held on the evening of October 3 at the Paradise Ocean Club in Hampton, Virginia.
