NEWPORT NEWS - Leading up to the Hall of Fame Weekend and Induction Ceremony in October, The Apprentice School Department of Athletics will highlight each of the six inductees of the upcoming class. Today, we put the spotlight on former athlete and current strength coach Herb Fields.

Fields was a two-sport athlete during his time at The Apprentice School, playing on the gridiron and running track from 1985-89. During his time on the football field, he was part of teams that still have top-10 records for total rushing scores, rushing yards, most carries, passes attempted and completed and total offensive plays. After graduating, Fields returned to the athletic staff as the strength coach in 1996 and still serves in that capacity to this day, helping hundreds of Apprentice athletes train to be successful in their respective sports.

Tickets for the 2025 Hall of Fame Weekend are on sale now. Fans can purchase a foursome for the Third Annual Hall of Fame Golf Tournament on the morning of October 2 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, Virginia, and/or tickets for the Induction Ceremony to be held on the evening of October 3 at the Paradise Ocean Club in Hampton, Virginia.
