WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Apprentice School Assistant Athletic Director, Communications
Walker McCrary was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Garth Pleasant Honorary Administrator of the Year Monday morning at the National Convention.
The USCAA's Garth Pleasant Honorary Administrator of the Year award is an annual award bestowed upon an administrator in the association who has made positive and meaningful contributions to their institution and the USCAA.
"It is truly humbling to be recognized by the USCAA and its member institutions," said McCrary. "I am especially thankful for our school's administration, including Dr. Latitia McCane and
Jeff Egnot, for allowing me to highlight the department's accomplishments and successes over the last four years.
"I also would like to thank the national office staff and the Board of Directors for selecting me amongst the many outstanding administrators in our association. To be recognized in the same breath as so many outstanding administrators that have won this award before me is truly an honor."
During McCrary's four years at Apprentice, he has served on multiple national committees and coaches' polls as well as contributed to the national office sports information tournament staff in multiple sports, including volleyball, golf, basketball, baseball and softball.
He has also led efforts to increase the visibility of The Apprentice School digitally, adding Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts to the department's social media presence. Additionally, the department's website surpassed over a million views and over 100,000 unique visitors during the 2025-26 athletic season, the most in department history in both categories.
The Garth Pleasant Honorary Administrator of the Year award was first given in 2002 and has been given annually since 2006. The award is voted on by the USCAA Board of Directors.
