NEWPORT NEWS - Leading up to the Hall of Fame Weekend and Induction Ceremony in September, The Apprentice School Department of Athletics will highlight each of this year's inductees of the upcoming class. Today, we put the spotlight on former men's wrestler Colton Messick. 

Messick, a member of the wrestling program from 2016-2020, is one of the most decorated Builders in program history. A four-time national qualifier, three-time All-American and two-time National Champion, Messick boasted an impressive 128-31 career record. He also captured multiple titles at the USCAA National Invitational, the Builder Invitational and Virginia Beach Nationals during his four-year career.

Additional accolades include earning All-Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Conference honors four-times, Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Second-Team All-State twice, VaSID Academic All-State Team, and USCAA Wrestler of the Week.

Messick currently serves as the associate head coach of the men's wrestling program at The Apprentice School and is a construction supervisor in the shipyard.
