Builders Sweep Penn St Mont Alto

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Game 1

IN BRIEF: On a cold Saturday afternoon, the Builders hosted fellow USCAA member Penn State Mont Alto. Tyler Winegrad took the mound for the Builders and turned in a stellar performance. Winegrad would retire the Lions in order in the first two innings, keeping the score at 0 to 0. Braden Lambert would break the tie on a two run home run that soared over the bullpen in left field. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Builders would add to their lead when Lou Picolo scored on a fielder's choice. The score would remain 3 to 0 until the top of the 6th, when the Lions would get one back with a solo homerun to left field.

Tyler Winegrad turned in a dominating start for the Builders. Winegrad completed 5 innings, giving up 0 hits, and striking out five batters. Winegrad cruised for most of the game before getting into a jam in the top of the 5th. The Lions would load the bases but Winegrad kept his composure and forced the Lions batter to line out to second base. Taylor Hampton would relieve Winegrad in the top of the 6th. Hampton would get through the 6th with no trouble. After hitting the first batter in the 7th, Hampton forced the next three batter to fly out and the Builders took Game 1 by a score of 3 to 1.
