STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Jeremy Carr was the only player in the field to shoot under par, firing a 1-under 71 as The Apprentice School golf team began play in the USCAA National Tournament Monday at PSU Blue.

Carr had three birdies to just one double bogey on the card Monday, including back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th holes. He has a one-shot lead headed into Tuesday's final round.

Dillon Mickles also sits in the top 10 after a 4-over 76 put him in a tie for seventh. He carded three birdies and an eagle on the day.

The Builders find themselves in second place after 18 holes, four shots clear of Penn State Mont Alto. Lyon, a dual affiliate school from NCAA Division III, is in first place, 14 shots ahead of The Apprentice School. Southern Maine CC is in fourth, while Johnson & Wales-Charlotte and Maine-Augusta are tied for fifth.

The final round will take place tomorrow.
