VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Apprentice School men's golf team wrapped up play at the Marlins Invitational with
Chris Ivey finishing in a tie for third place individually at Cypress Point Golf Course Tuesday.
Ivey shot 74-75 in the tournament. In his opening round, he had two birdies on the card. One was on the par 5 eighth while the other came on the par 4 13th. In round two, he carded a trio of birdies, finding them on the par 4 fourth and 12th as well as the par 5 18th. He finished six back of Virginia Wesleyan's Avery Barnes, who shot 1-under for the event to win individually.
The Builders finished in a tie for tenth as a team, shooting 333-330 in the two-round event. William Peace won the event by one shot over Virginia Wesleyan. NC Wesleyan, Maryland Eastern Shore and Hardin-Simmons wrapped up the top five.
The Builders will be back in action on the course with a match against MACU and Chowan next Monday at Sleepy Hole.
