MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - In the first ever official event for The Apprentice School women's wrestling team,
Skylar Schaefer was the top Builder on the podium, finishing fourth in her weight class Saturday.
Wrestling at 131, Schaefer opened her tournament with a pinfall and a technical fall before losing in the quarterfinals and falling into the consolation bracket. That didn't deter her as she proceeded to get another pinfall and tech fall before advancing via injury in the consolation semifinals. In a tough matchup against Mary Jane Porter of the University of the Cumberlands in the third place match, Schaefer fell via tech fall.
Nevaeh-Lee Hannah also wrestled at 131, dropping her first match before getting a 21 second pinfall in her first consolation bracket matchup.
Siddie Hoffen wrestled at 180, getting two pinfalls in the consolation bracket.
The women will be back in action next weekend in a quad match at Randolph.
