LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Apprentice School women's wrestling team won its first dual in program history Saturday and finished the day 4-2 at the Strong & Courageous Duals, hosted by Liberty.
The Builders started the day with the first dual win in program history, beating Liberty, 22-11.
Kaylee Campbell,
Janyla Anderson and
Siddie Hoffen each won by fall, while
Jordyn Anderson grinded out a 12-6 decision and
Ida Pellei won by technical fall, 10-0.
Apprentice faced NAIA opponent Montreat in round two, falling to the Cavaliers, 33-15.
Janyla Anderson got her second win via fall on the day, while Pellei got her first.
Jordyn Anderson won by 10-0 tech fall.
After a bye in Round 3, the Builders took down Southern Virginia, 24-20.
Janyla Anderson kept her win via fall streak going, while Pellei and Hoffen also each got a pin in the match against the Knights.
The Builders kept the winning going against Randolph in Round 5, taking down the Wildcats by another 24-20 score. Another win via fall for
Janyla Anderson got things started with
Jordyn Anderson getting her third straight tech fall win. Hoffen's fall at the 5:45 mark sealed the win for Apprentice.
The fourth win of the day came over Greensboro by a 21-18 score.
Kaylee Campbell got a win via fall in just 21 seconds to highlight the match. The day ended with a tough 25-14 loss to NAIA's Brewton-Parker.
Janyla Anderson finished the day with a 10-0 technical fall to finish a perfect 5-0 on the day. Pellei got a win via fall at 5:30 in the loss.
The Builders next time on the mats will be on December 5 at the York Invitational.
